July Jaunt of Montana

Welcome to my first blog!
I love exploring the outdoors, visiting big cities for a short period of time, trying new things and sharing my experiences. Hence, this blog, travelblog or explorablog.

I declare this posting as a "jaunthaunt" because half of it I have been to and the other half not.

This hike requires a minimum of two cars and each car should have at least three or more able-bodied people to hike eight to nine miles. In our instance, one car had four while the other had five. Each car starts at a different trail head and meets somewhere near the middle for a key exchange. Keys are exchanged and each group continues on their way to the other car. Once the car is reached we hop in and meet at a pre-determined destination to get back into your original car.

This particular hike was chosen because of the final destination for FOOD! A long day of hiking is all about the food at the end and what better place to choose than The Buckhorn Bar in Augusta, MT where you can have the BEST burger on the planet AND meet some of the most interesting and kind locals of Augusta. The beer is always cold which doesn't hurt either.

After a cool, wet hike the warmth of the fireplace was perfect to start our post hike gathering. Fourteen women huddled around the fireplace drinking beer or wine laughing and talking about anything from "is your underwear wet" (from the rain, get your mind out of the gutter) to the obnoxious in-laws upcoming visit and will she know the difference in the plain label rum poured into the expensive label bottle.

We met one of the locals, Gus. He gave us a list of his top ten hikes and we had accomplished most of them.
